The eight-gate idea as a teaching frame

Eight checks that can refuse an idea before it becomes anything. Seven of them are protecting you from yourself, and a working set refuses about a third of the time.

What you will be able to do

After this lesson you can explain why a gate refuses a process rather than grading a security, compute how often a set of independent gates lets everything through, and say which of the eight are protecting you from the market and which from yourself.

Inside this lesson

  • The eight, and what they are for
  • The arithmetic nobody does
  • Who are they protecting you from?
  • What gates cannot do
